Hi Gene,When you pour your heart out to your doctor, be sure to do it in a way that provides him with concrete and specific examples of how your health and quality of life is suffering.
It is important that you tell your doctor the proactive things you have been doing (staying away from GERD triggers, raising the head of your bed, waiting several hours after eating before going to bed, taking medication at the prescribed dosage and time.)
As Kitt said, if you can write down just what you want to say, it will help you communicate effectively. You need to come across as someone who has done everything recommended to control GERD but who is finding it is not enough.
There is a limited amount of time you will have with your doctor, and you want to make use of every minute. I always find I forget what I was going to say unless I write everything down. I think you will find a list very helpful.
Good luck!
Denise
