Hello everyone. I am new to blogging in general but I thought I would become a member for help.
I am a home health nurse in need for some assistance. I have a patient, who has approved me to blog about her story, in order to find answers to help her receive assistance and relief.
She had the nissen fundoplication done 7 years ago. To make things short and sweet...her wrap is too tight and her surgeon denies any mishap or need to "go back in" and release the wrap. She reports that the surgeon did not perform a motility test or any other preop test that warranted the surgery. She went in to get her hernia fixed and came out in excrutiating pain due to the nissen fundoplication (as she reports, she did not authorize). She reports it as her throat being tight and feeling "a staple or sharp something" stabbing her neck. Her pain is in her mid back, between her shoulders and she has been dealing with this severe pain for seven years now. She finds no relief even though she is taking narcotics along with tylenol and antianxiety medications. She is chronically constipated. She has pain every time she eats or drinks. She has seen 4-5 drs in the past seven years, multiple ct scans, mris and other testing, two exploratory surgeries resulting in "closing her up" and not releasing the wrap because it was too close to her aorta. I think maybe there is nerve involvement because she hurts in her mid back all the way up her neck. She has no one to turn to that will provide the surgery to unwrap. She regrets ever doing the surgery in the first place to correct her reflux and hiatal hernia. The original surgeon will not perform the surgery, her primary dr has tried every resource but is still open to new ideas and will refer her to wherever needed. She has looked into the mayo clinic but has limited resources to traveling and cannot make long trips due to discomfort. She is depressed and cries at every visit because she needs to find answers and someone willing to perform the surgery to unwrap the "wrap", along with her excrutiating pain. She has to take pain medication just to be able to eat. Please send me some type of resource, answers, or any assistance to help me help this woman. Thank you in advance.
