I'm getting this done in 2 days and would like to hear some experiences. I've had the menometry and bravo before and I guess this ph test pretty much combines the 2 tests in 1. My menometry was awful... I have a very strong gag reflex so im a little nervous about a tube being there for a whole day.

the wired PH study is put in the same way as manometry, but is way smaller. I did have so troubles when eating something that stuck to the wire, like soft bread or peanut butter. The back of my throat did get some what irratated and sometimes if your throat gets a bit it will pull on the wire as you swallow. It really is much better than the manometry.

Does the wire pull if you turn your head? Is it taped to your face? I'm allergic to adhesives and that would not be a good place for a break out.

its not bad. I've had 2 or 3, can't remember. They tape it to the side of your face...maybe there will be an alternative for you. It is a bit annoying when you eat, as the tube pulls in (at least for me), but you'll be fine. I thought the manometry was 100 times worse all times I've done it (before the PH, so they know where to put the PH tube).

Well I couldn't do it. It was done completely different as far as prep goes and I think that made a difference. When I had the manometry the nurse put a bunch of numbing gel in my nose and had to snort it. This time the nurse put lidocaine on one of those big q tips and put almost the whole thing in my nose. I told her about the gel I had the last time and she said they don't want your throat numb..umm ok I prefer that! Then she put the tube in, it hit a nasal passage hole and burned like crazy. Then she started putting it down my throat and I couldn't stop gagging and couldn't breathe. It felt like it was twisting and I made her take it out. I don't think that would have happened if my throat was numb. So now I'm not sure what the surgeon is going to do.
