Hi Jesper,I responded to your post on another thread...Again, Welcome to the HW Wrapped Club! I'm glad forum posts helped you, and glad you've joined us!
As someone who had the Nissen surgery due to atypical symptoms, I can tell you that it will take quite a long time before you begin to see improvement. My surgery was mainly done in hopes that the health of my very sick lungs would improve. It was pretty much a last-ditch stand. My asthma doc and PCP had tried everything and nothing seemed to help. Finally, my PCP made me an appointment with a surgeon to explore having a Nissen. I went back to my GI doc with the test results, and he FINALLY agreed to send me to a surgeon.
It took about two and a half months post-op to begin to see improvement in my lungs. Once the reflux is stopped, the tissue that has been affected needs time to heal.
I can't really speak to the postnasal drip issue. I have had it my entire life--long before I ever had reflux. Mine is an allergy issue, and probably a sinus/nasal structural issue. I've never found an answer. I wish you luck on that one!
I think you can be fairly confident that your wheezing will improve, once your lungs have time to heal.
My surgeon told me that if my lung problems were being caused by reflux, the surgery would stop the problem. I hoped that it would help, but I really didn't know. It was especially worrisome when it took so long to see any improvement. It took a long time to develop the problems, and it only stands to reason that it will take a long time to heal them.
Again, glad you've joined us! Stick around!
Take care,
Denise
