Hi Lanab,
Did you come off the ppis after this post in November?
I am trying Yakult but it is Lactobacillus casei, whereas Proviva is Lactobacillus plantarum. There seems to be some research saying the plantarum type probiotic can help with IBS. I wonder if the L.casei will have any of the same benefits . . .
My friend's OH is currently working in Denmark - I may ask if he can bring some Proviva back for me to try. Is it around in any supermarket?
MMM
Yes i am off PPIs now since 1 month back next week and i am handling it good, i would say my symtoms is so mild right now that it doesn't bother me too much, i am really glad i have sorted this hell at last.
You might be right, i do beleive i might have some milder form of IBS as well, not sure and i might have had bile reflux at the same time, however everything seems under control now and i strongly beleive the lliquid form of Probiotics i take has helped me alot, i started with one glas each day but ended up taking two glases each day and it made me even better.
Yes you can buy Proviva in any supermarket in the Nordics, if you tell your friend to goto one of the larger supermarkets in Denmark i am sure they will have it.
I read that Proviva tried to get in to the UK as well but it costed too much for the Swedish company so they had to withdraw from the market, it seems Danone, the French company, is the largest shareholder now.
I have a document from Sweden where several GI specialists did a test to see if Proviva helped treating different stomach diseases like IBS, i will try find it.
