I am new to this so I will give my history and see if there are others out there with similar problems and maybe advice.
In 1997 and 1999 Laproscopic Nissan Fundoplication then again in 1999 open surgery Nissan Fundoplication. Did pretty well through summer of 2011. Now I have atypical symptoms such as constant coughing, aspiration, coughing asthma, reflux of course, etc. I spent 5 days in the hospital last week and found all of this was caused because of reflux. I am very concerned because a huge part of my stomach is once again in my chest however the Nissan is still there. They tell me I need surgery again but I really need an expert. I guess everytime you repeat this procedure it becomes much more complicated. I am very concerned with finding a very experienced surgeon for this procedure.
I will tell you that I do not belch or vomit and haven't in 14 years. I do seem to have a lot of gas, a lot of diaharra for the first few years but not so much now. I can eat about anything I want (I weigh 134) but I try my best to not overeat, I seldom drink carbonated beverages because of the discomfort. I have got along very well until now. Many of you are going through things I have and I would be willing to answer any specific questions if it would help you.
Thanks,
