Hi belljar --
It's going to take a bit of adjustment to find out what works best for you. I know it's unpleasant, and we are all there with you!
I noticed that you are doing both a PPI and H2 blocker together. I know others do this, and perhaps some doctors prescribe this. But, I think current thought on this is that the H2 blockers somewhat inhibit the action of the PPI. Also, continued use of H2 blockers often leads to complete tolerance, so they become useless. If the Dexilant isn't giving you fairly significant relief after two weeks, then you need to switch to another PPI.
Also, I know you ordered the "good stuff" from the UK, but if your symptoms are more in your throat (can't remember your other thread), you may actually get more relief from the regular strength Gaviscon tablets, which will foam in your mouth and coat on the way down.
Also, when is your last meal before sleeping? The longer you make this, the less will be in your stomach and the more efficient the Gaviscon will be in neutralizing the acid. I realize this sounds harsh, but I don't eat past 2-3pm, and go to bed 12-1am.
Depending upon the amount of damage to your throat, vocal cords, etc., complete recovery can take 6-9 months...IF the reflux can be stopped. If you are noticing improvement, then that's a good sign.
Best wishes.
