On my way to pre op meeting....mixed emotions

Its so weird....about a week or two ago I was so certain that surgery was the way to go....now on my way to see the surgeon to a pre op meeting I'm getting mixed emotions if this is right or not.

Does anyone else get like this?

I have to remember the previous suffering I went through and know this is the right decision....

I felt the exact same way with my first nissen. Please stay focused on your goals. To control this horrible disease. I got such great results, even with an incorrectly done one that I had no doubts the 2nd and 3rd time this is what I need to control this.

Going into any surgery is scary. Keep things into perspective and listen to what the surgeon has to say and ask any questions you have.

Hey Max,

I have not had many surgeries but have had to make decisions as well as help my husband make decisions re his healthcare, medications and surgery and I know how you feel.  I think this is pretty normal as you are choosing the unknown as you choose surgery and your mind starts playing games with you - so you start to doubt your decision.

Like anything in life nobody can gauratee the outcome but we make our decision based on the information we have gathered and the pros and cons of the particulr surgery; that is the best anyone can do.  I know you have done your homework and I am here to support you throughout your surgery and recovery.

I think its a normal reaction. With the facts I had, my brain knew that surgery WAS the best solution in my situation, my emotions just clouded the rational thought. :)

I remembered my previous suffering as well. How much it had impacted my life in a negative way. That HAD to end. I had no idea how effective the surgery would be, but I knew that the chance of a new life outweighed any risks. Turns out, it was the best decision I've ever made.

Thanks guys.

I remember why I started visiting healingwell in the first place is because I couldn't control this illness and that's why I am here at this moment seeing the surgeon.

I like the idea of keeping focused in the goal of controlling this.

As time nears even closer to surgery date I know it will be even more nerve recking....
