I just want to let anyone else that reads this know that the procedure is really a piece of cake. I was so anxious that I only got 2 hours of sleep the night before I went in. The next morning I checked in and my BP was 164!! Literally, the procedure takes about
10 minutes. I was on my left side watching the machine while they injected demerol and versed into the IV. I thought that I would feel it slowly, but all of a sudden the nurse was talking to me and rolling me back into recovery. What a spooky, but totally awesome drug. They must have put the mouth guard in after I was out and then had me swallow the endoscopy tube. Isn't that just so weird........following directions without knowing while you are sedated. I neither felt nor remembered anything. I woke up, pretty coherent and with absolutely no sore throat whatsoever. I did gargle with a lidocaine gel substance right before. So for anyone that was worried as I was, please read this and hopefully it puts you at ease.
