Reflux due to Hormone Replacement Therapy or Stomach Bug? Anxiety due to prilosec/zantac?

Hi - My wife was started on hormone replacement therapy (BHRT) for menopause, and about 3 weeks afterwards, she started to have some reflux problems. After a stomach bug, it got a lot worse. But since the problem started before the bug, we thought it was the BHRT. We've been slowly decreasing the dose, but haven't seen any relief yet. She tried lots of natural remedies that didn't help, before resorting to prilosec. This drug caused major anxiety, agitation, and shakiness/tremors (even waking her up in the night!). She tried Zantac, but while the side effects were less (although still present), the reflux was worse. So she switched back to Prilosec, and is presently taking klonopin to offset these side effects.

Has anyone had reflux due to any form of HRT therapy? If so, how long would it take after stopping it, to go away?

Could a stomach bug trigger reflux? If so, besides antacids and reflux meds, what else can be tried? Thanks. - Mark
