Venting

Alright, went a good amount without venting, but I am gonna vent now ;)

I am now on two Ranitidine's a day but my heartburn has actually gotten worse. 12 of the past 14 nights have been constant heartburn...My Dr. assures me my risk of cancer is super low b/c I have always had no esophagitis or only grade 1, but it is tough not to think of long-term consequences every time I feel it, which is every few minutes it seems these days.

The forum is funny...out with the old in with the new...I barely recognize any members anymore, it seems like most that were around when I started here have left and a lot of newcomers have taken their place. I am hoping one day I'll be one of the people that gets this resolved and who can go to :)

The only good news of this time is the LINX news...I wonder if people who aren't good candidates for the Nissen are candidates for the LINX?

Sorry to hear you're still struggling.  It's too bad you're not getting relief from the Ranitidine.  I can't remember why you're not considered a good candidate for a Nissen.  Can you refresh my memory? 

You are so right that some of our friends here move on, which is a good thing, as you've said.  Most of the people who helped me through my surgery three years ago are off living their lives. I decided to stick around and help others here the way I was helped. 

I very much hope that one day you're feeling so well that you can fly the forum coop.  Still, I also hope that even then, you decide to stick around and help other members the way you have helped them over these past months!

I had extremely sick lungs for over 4 years before my surgery, and my GI doc did not think I was a good candidate for surgey.  Still, I persisted, and eventually my GI doc gave in and sent me to a surgeon.  Hang in there...it can happen.

Kitt has offered some great advice.  Try to find a way to follow it, as hard as it might be right now.

It seemed like you were in a really good patch symptom wise - were you on Zantac all along or did you enjoy a drug free phase? Just wondering if you became 'tolerant' of the Zantac or whether something else changed that set things off again. It's so easy, when we feel good, to take virtually no notice of what we're doing by way of diet, supplements, lifestyle - then when things flare up it's impossible to work out which of five thousand variables was the one that slipped!

I wish I could fly the nest too - or at least talk about my GERD in the past tense!!!

Mine often spikes for no reason that I can fathom too. I try to stand back and just picture it having its own little life cycle. At least you did manage a good break - you never know, another one may be around the corner!
