I think I am now a member of the club. Had my surgery on Tuesday morning and spent Tuesday night in hospital and discharged Wednesday afternoon. Everything went very well and i am relatively comfortable at home now.
The only real pain has been the notorious shoulder pain and it is definately there! The incisions only hurt when I try to sit up or lie down i.e. the change in position.
I was surprised to have cream of tomato soup, tea, milk and pudding offered for lunch the first day. No trouble at all getting anything down. I had expected a clear liquid diet.
The doctor said that the entire stomach was above the diaphragm so I am even more surprised at how well I am feeling. He said that I should be nearly back to a normal diet in a week. I think I will slow that down a bit though.
It is good to be home and from my experience, I can suggest to those waiting for surgery not to worry to much.
Sandy
