Hi Donna,As bowcecho said, bloating is quite common. Never fear. This will improve over time. The loud noises in your stomach remind me of my experience. They were so loud people could hear them across the room. Once, when I was at a meeting and they started, people kept offering me food, thinking I must be starving! This too, will pass.
Keep in mind that your upper GI tract has been completely revised, and it takes time for healing AND for your body to adjust to these changes. It will improve. Remember that you will continue to heal throughout the first year. I found improvements continued into second year as well. I no longer make loud gurgles!
My guess is that after you go to the gym and bounce your stomach around a lot, you're getting some pain that's mimicing reflux. Your esophagus is likely still irritated, and things aren't "cemented" into place the way they will be as your healing continues..
I'd recommend, though, that you don't exercise on a full stomach.
Another member, Cindy123, who doesn't post much any more (because her worries and problems have resolved) also had a lot of trouble accepting the changes made by the surgery because like you, she had silent reflux and didn't experience symptoms prior to the surgery. It makes the recovery a lot more difficult, as the changes that are accepted by those who were suffering prior to surgery much more easily than those without pre-surgical symptoms.
Hang in there. You will most certainly continue to improve over the next months. I had intermittent dumping through the year mark, and I had expected that it would be a quirk created by the surgery that I'd just have to live with. However, sometime during the second year I realized I wasn't dumping anymore. It just happens...but it takes time.
Best wishes, and happy healing!
Denise
