Partner's stomach has "dropped" and has "one stomach lining

My partner had a laparascopic procedure for his hiatus hernia 2005, in the last 12 months I've known him, his stomach has dropped badly, he only has one stomach lining from the last bout of severe acid reflux, and he is on Pantaprazole, which doesn't always work!!!
We can't sleep because of his severe pain, would it be possible to have it completely removed surgically??? As he doesn't trust another keyhole surgery to work!!!

Hi Kestra99,

Welcome to Healing Well!  Sorry to hear that your partner is suffering.  I'm not sure I understand your post.  Has your partner had a Nissen fundoplication, or just a hernia repair?

You mentioned that you partner's stomach has "dropped" and has "one stomach lining".  I don't understand either of those things as you've described them. 

If you could further explain the situation, it would be easier to respond to your questions.

He had a repair, where the hernia is tucked, via keyhole, before he had this, the acid reflux destroyed his stomach lining, he was told by the surgeon, that he now has only the one layer of stomach lining left.

First of all welcome to HW.  I am sorry to read of your partner's situation.

The wall of the stomach is made up of four layers: the mucous, submucous, muscular, and peritoneal layers. The mucous and submucous layers are made up of ridges called rugae. Within the ridges are gastric glands made up of mucous cells, parietal cells, chief cells, and G-cells. Each of these cells secretes a chemical that aids in the process of digestion.

I am still not certain I understand exactly what has happened to your partner - 

A gastrectomy is surgery to remove part or all of the stomach. Gastrectomy is performed for several reasons, most commonly to remove a malignant tumor or to cure a perforated or bleeding stomach ulcer.

I would strongly encourage your partner to seek out second opinions re the situation as it stands.

It is not a stomach ulcer, it is a hiatus hernia, and they lifted his stomach to seal in the hernia, which made his stomach look flat, his stomach has dropped, so it now looks like a beer belly, and he doesn't drink. And they said nothing about layers, just said on of the two stomach linings were eroded away by the excess acid. And even his antacid medication don't touch the pain now, all he gets is try this tablet, and try this one!!! Nothing works for the acid or, the pain, and the hospital expects him to wait 7 months in agony to see anyone!!!
