I am not able to successfully wean off Zantac. I tried for past few weeks to take 75 or 150 mg daily. Is the weaning off process done in weeks or months?
Anyone here who went through a difficult weaning off process with Zantac ?
Diet - Had a strict vegan diet for few months. Started having baked foods(processed) as GI told me I should start trying out other foods. Lost 18 pounds
Medication - Used prevacid for 4 months and switched to Zantac (150 mg) then reduced to 75 mg

I've never managed longer than 5 or 6 weeks into a weaning process before I've got so ill I've had to revert to full dose. However, if you've managed to transfer to Zantac you are doing well! You need to stay on the same dose until you have a plateau, maintain the plateau for up to a month and then try a further step down. An additional tactic is to alternate the new dose with the old dose and then increase the interval in between the old higher dose and the new one - spacing the old dose further and further away and then seeing if you can plateau on the new dose.
You've done very well to change over to Zantac - many of us here would be happy just taking Zantac. If I could live on 150 mg a day of Zantac I'd be happy enough!

I didn't think that there was any rebound from Zantec, but mmm knows way more than I do. Maybe your body just need meds to function well. I am delighted to be on Zantec instead of a ppi.

@sunbeam
Thanks for the reply. I am feeling better but some food triggers or stress makes it worse. I glad that I am not using PPI.
@ MMM,
Thanks.. I will follow your suggestion. The journey was rocky..but 4 months of vegan organic food has it's own benefits.
