Hi Burnin'Up,Post op, pretty much anything is possible, and your surgeon's thoughts make all kinds of sense to me. During the early weeks and months, it's very common to have food and drink (even medications) held back at the wrap site.
I don't know how common this is, but often when I wake up in the morning I have some discomfort or irritation at the wrap site until I'm up and have had some breakfast. As soon as I have something to eat I'm fine. I don't interpret it as reflux, but the wrap feels slightly irritated or uncomfortable. As soon as I'm up and have eaten...it's fine.
I've often wondered if it's related to the way my wrap healed and that I many have an adhesion that pulls on the wrap area, because like you, it feels better in a vertical position. It's not pain...just kind of a gnawing feeling, and being upright and eating always gets rid of it.
Hate to tell you, but I'm 3 and a half years post op. It's not every day, but every so often I feel it. I have lungs that are very sensitive to reflux, and my lungs are fine, so I'm confident that it's not reflux-related.
Everyone is different, so don't expect what you're experiencing to last. It'll probably disappear soon. If it doesn't, though, don't assume reflux.
Hang in there...
Denise
