I think I have experienced just about all the symptoms that others have been through. I have the most wonderful GI doctor that has helped me and I would like to pass on his thoughts and, hopefully, help others. I understand what the pain is and I also know 100% that diet will help (at least, it helped me) The goal is to reduce your acid; therefore, you want to eliminate as many high acid producing foods as possible from your diet. Stop all the following in any way, shape, or form: onions, garlic, citric fruits, tomatoes, spicy foods, alcohol, high fat meats, no diary products at all ie: milk, sour cream, cheese, yogurt, butter, caffeine drinks ie: coffee, tea, soft drinks. Other than that, it's trial and error. Lactose free milk seems okay. Restrictive?? You betcha... but pain is a great motivator (*_*) There's no cheating on this... and it will take a while.... it has done wonders for me and I hope for you. Almost forgot... I take 1 Nexium one hour before the big meal of the day (one a day). As needed, it is okay to take over the counter antacids (Gelusil, Mylanta, etc) one hour after meals. I sleep on a wedge. Good luck!!!! Forgot to mention..... no fried foods.
