What a brilliant site. I was diagnosed with GERD over 2 years ago. I am from England so our meds seem to be different from most of you. I was prescribed Zoton. 30 mgs. But recently I have had to take an extra tablet of 15 mgs. I also have suffered from IBS for 12 years. I did suffer from terrible heartburn before going on the tablets. Now, I never get it, but i have all the problems mentioned. E.g. Sore throat, hoarseness, sinus problems, headache, persistent cough, bad breath, dry mouth and very little saliva. It frightens me that I can`t get off the tablets, and will the dose have to be increased regularly. You hear horror stories of the long term effects of the meds. Cancer etc. I have tried all the bed head raising and diet regimes. Does anyone know what the wonder cure is thats advertised for 30 dollars. My life seems to be ruled by this condition. Its nice to know i`m not alone.

I like you suffer from GERD and IBS. I have been on Prevacid for the past few months, prior to that I was on Nexium. I switched because I couldn't handle the side effects with the Nexium. I think I have heard of Zoton before, is that a PPI also? I still have the throat pain and believe that it probably won't heal completely. With all the damage done by the reflux, I don't think that it will ever go back to the way it was. I'm just happy that there is no new damage.

I think that the risks of the disease far outweigh the risk of the meds. With medication, you always have long term risks however if you live with GERD untreated you are putting your body at risk for esophagal cancer anyway and I think that the risk is much higher untreated.

I'm not sure if I ever heard of a wonder cure. Is this only available in the UK (I'm in the US)? Do you know what the name of it is?

I have read your few replies to different members from which I could drive that you are quite active member suffering from GERD and having problems in the throat now due to gerd. Let me also introduce that i m from India and suffering from GERD for the last 15-20 yrs. The treatment started from antacids to ranitidine to lanzaprole,pantoprazole(PPI),motilators etc.etc. now I m on Rabiprazole od in the morning and Zentec in the night. even these medicines are not doing much.As all medicines can work for some time only. some homeopathy medicines are giving some relief along with these medicines. . I m eagerly looking forward to some miracles by wonder .drugs. But my experience so far is bad. I think we continue with scintific ways only. Drugs approved by authorities should be taken. Meanwhile i suggest you all to explore Homeopathy which may help. It doesnt have side effects

Hi dbab, The wondercure i was talking about is a link from the homepage of this site. It has something to do with fruit I think. It must be American because the price is $30. Esopgegal cancer worries me because my brother died from it at 33 years old. I agree with you about the meds. I couldn`t come off them anyway, cos if I miss one i get the burning back. My sore throat comes and goes. I had it for 4 weeks until I recently doubled my dose. I am feeling alot better now but the cough is still bad.
