"fixing" small hiatal hernia during fundoplication?

I understand with large hernias, sometimes it's necessary to close the hole in the diaphragm in order to prevent the stomach from moving up there. But with a small hernia, does anything need to be done, or does the mere act of doing the wrap/fundoplication essentially "fix" the hernia by moving the upper part of the stomach?

Generally they fix the hernia.  They don't want it getting any worse, as the hernia repair/intact diaphram keeps the wrap from slipping.  From what I've learned, wraps don't fail unless the hernia repair fails (assuming they were done correctly).
