Hello all! Happy Holidays.
I'm a newbie to the forum, but no stranger to acid reflux. I never thought I'd actually sign up here, but I'm glad I did. So thanks in advance -- this is a great place to share ideas ... and aches and pains. I'm Greg, 43 -- decent health (well, could be better, but it's Christmas!)
So...enough rambling, and to the business: I've been taking Prevacid for nearly 12 years from my doctor. I started on it when it was fairly new. I was diagnosed with acid reflux / GERD about that same time. I've dealt with it all along. But just recently, I've been battling what seems to be my worst flair up yet. I've been to my doc as normal, and he has me testing out Dexilant now, a new prescription. I call this a big flair up because I am experiencing some issues that I haven't before, but I know exist with GERD.
The biggest pain is the sharp pain that I've had under my sternum. Anyone else get this? Of course I freaked out about it (I'm dying...I'm dying...jeeeeeesh!) But it comes and goes, sometimes worse than others. And this bout it about into it's 5 or 6th day. I never take the chewable antacids (Tums, etc), but the other day I said what the hell...let's call out the troops. And they seemed to give some comfort.
I've made an early resolution to get this stuff more under control, if I can. Better diet, etc. So if anyone knows of any good resources for recipes or diet suggestions for GERD-ites, I'd love hear.
Happy Holidays, everyone!
