Shoot....I am willing to give any of your suggestions a try. I just joined this forum...I was google-ing GERD and that's how I found y'all.
My ENT told me in Dec I have GERD/reflux. I've had a REALLLLLY hard time wrapping my head around this because I really only ever have the issue w/hoarseness & loss of voice. But it gets BAD, I mean REAL bad. I don't get heartburn that I am aware of....and I'm not sure I know what indigestion feels like. But after doing some reading...I think I'm coming to understand that other things are going on. I'm 44, was diagnosed w/asthma when I was 18....but it was really only induced w/high levels of exertion (sprinting laps in a pool, shoveling the wet & heavy snow...etc). Because of this prior diagnosis, I think Dr's tend to treat my presenting symptoms...and sure, with me it can be similar to a URI. But I think the inhalers & breathing Tx's are aggravating things.
Yep...overweight (battled since conception), and have seasonal allergies. I've read info about
asthma & runny noses being part of this GERD thing. I toss my hands in the air...cuz at this point I am not sure which came first...the snot/congestion or the GERD. To add to this...I was a party girl. So there are natural reasonable consequence to my actions. On the flip side....I've been making better choices for over 10 years. My nose thanks me...
I don't want to be bound to pills....and will give the kale/cabbage suggestion a shot.
I will take some time to poke around here some more....I am interested in food suggestions. I haven't had my morning lemon water, ANY garlic or tomatoes since Dec 4...and all I want to eat is pasta w/red sauce, ceviche...caprese salad. Ohhhh tomatoes....how I miss you.
If anyone has suggestions...I really welcome them.
And again....thank you for being here.
