Hey Everyone!
Well quick back story, I was diagnosed with silent reflux last year. I was put on omeprazole after I developed what felt like a baseball in my throat. The PPI's helped and it went away and life returned to normal. I am not fond of taking medication day in and day out so I just tried to regulate my LPR with diet and eating better foods. So I got off the PPI's.
So the weekend before last (Jan 5th, 2013), I bought a jar of hot HOT salsa and chips. I been craving salsa and chips. I ate the entire jar that Saturday. Then on the Sunday I got this extreme pain in my chest like my heart was hurting. Right under my collar bone but dead middle of my breast bone. The pain was intense like I was having heart issues. Which I figured can't be, I'm 31 and just had two EKG's and a Stress done 3 months before for another issue (hyponatremia, from working out to much). So I thought it had to be something with the salsa and my GERD.
So I started taking my Omeprazole again seeing if it can clear up any irritation that might be caused in my esophagus. I take it twice a day, morning and noon. Well that has been almost two weeks now and nothing seems better. My chest still really hurt and my left shoulder is now hurting.
Now the reason I believe it HAS to be something with my LPR is this. The pain is not there most of the time, but when I burp it REALLY hurts or if I drink something acidic like ice tea, I can feel the pain literally a second after I swallow.
Does this sound common to you guys that the pain is this intense and lasting this long to get any better? Do you believe it could of been the really hot salsa to cause this?
I just had a endoscope done last year and not really wanting to run back in just for them to say "yea it is inflamed and irritate, continue taking your PPI's". How long do you think is common for something like this to repair itself from taking PPI's? I was thinking 4 to 8 weeks but I wanted to see if anyone else has experienced this and what I can expect.
Thanks for listening guys!!!
