Hi Gastricman,Carafate suspension works great and doesn't interfere specifically with PPIs. It coats the esophagus and stomach and the coating lasts up to 6 hours. I have found great relief from it.
The trick is taking Carafate properly. It needs to be taken two hours before or after taking medication. It also needs to be at least an hour before meals and two hours after. (It coats things so well, it can keep the medication from being properly absorbed.) You learn to space it out properly, but it's tricky if you have to take meds throughout the day. Otherwise it's pretty easy to figure out.
I'd give it a try...I always keep it on hand because I've got a very sensitive, reactive stomach.
Good luck,
Denise
