Pain Meds and medication after Nissen Fundoplication

I will be having the Nissen Fundoplication in a few weeks and had a question regarding taking pain medicine and my regular medication in a pill form after the surgery.  Do they give pain medication in a liquid form and will I be able to take my normal medication in a pill form or should I ask my doctor if there is a liquid equivalent?  Did anyone have trouble taking pills and should I be worried about this?  My worse fear is getting home and being in pain and not being able to swallow a pill to feel better.
