Hi I'm 2 weeks post nissens :) recovering very slow as I feel very nauseous after eating. I have had three noticeable bouts of reflux since. This was a surprise as I was not expecting it. I can make tiny burps but think they are more esophageal burps than stomach burps. Scars are still very tender and a lot of dark bruising. A rather large bruise appeared this morning just below and to the right of my belly button, has anyone had a mysterious bruise?
After surgery i was on intravenous pain relief for three days and oxygen for four days as my blood pressure and says dropped. Strange as my blood pressure would be generally average or a bit high.
I have also had a terrible bout of depression which I was not expecting. I'm not a depressive person in general so this has hit me hard.
I have lost about 10kg or more the last two weeks, not worried about weight loss as I can afford to lose it. Swallowing is not too bad but it kind of backs up and I have to walk around or drink some water to get it to drop . Still feeling bit weak when I walk a distance and break out in a sweat when I eat. But I guess this is all normal.
But why do doctors and surgeons not tell you all of these things? Is it that they have done their bit with the surgery and the rest is up to you?
