Due to swelling of the wrap used to prevent your reflux, the following two short term effects are noted in most patients after reflux surgery:
- Difficulty swallowing some foods (dysphagia).
- Abdominal bloating and pain after eating foods that distend the stomach (gas bloat syndrome).
- Increased amount of intestinal gas (Flatus).
On Average, these symptoms last from two to six week from what I have read.
Between the third and eighth week you can slowly add soft foods to your diet. Some recommended soft foods are meat with gravy, soft cooked scrambled eggs, hot cereals, cold cereals softened in milk, soft cheeses, sushi and soft cut up pasta. During this period, you should avoid raw vegetables, steak, chips, tacos, bread, sandwiches and hamburgers.
Any questions you have that are causing you concern do contact your phycisian. I am sure you will here from other members who have been where you are.
Kindly,
