Do any of you who have or are considering the Linx procedure have delayed gastric emptying?

My surgeon is concerned about performing that surgery on me based on the results of a solid gastric emptying study and I'm just curious what other people's experiences are. They'd like me to try Reglan, but after reviewing the list of potential side effects of it, I'm very hesitant to try any prokinetics. Especially since they can't be taken long term, and wouldn't actually solve the problem permanently.

I'm also wondering if taking the gastric emptying test while taking a high dose of PPIs resulted in a slower emptying stomach than would be if I had normal stomach acid, etc.

Hey speedygerd,

I'm sort of in the same situation and wondered if you ended up having the Linx procedure. If so, how are you doing with that?

try itopride, mosapride, or domperidone (buy online from canada). You can also try botox injections to the pyloric sphincter. If these do not help, then gastroparesis may not be your issue.

Hey Drcolonel,

I have not had the Linx or any other surgery yet. I'm about to begin trying to use domperidone to see if that helps. I was able to control my GERD throughout much of the past year through eating very simple foods, lots of exercise, and ppis / h2s.

I've recently had a flareup however and am considering surgery again (linx or fundoplication). Going to try domperidone first and see if it helps dramatically.
