Does anyone else have breathing problems with LPR?
I was just diagnosed with LPR, Post nasal drip, Chronic Sinusitis, hypertrophy of nasal turbinates, and nasal obstruction a few months ago but have been having symptoms for over a year. I have this constant cough, clearing my throat constantly and it always feels like something is stuck in my throat.. He put me on two nose sprays but they haven't been helping at all.
I also have GERD, Upright acid reflux(had the Bravo probe pH Test done), Erosive Esophagitus and a hiatial hernia. I had a CT Scan done 3 weeks ago and was just at my doctors a few days ago.. He told me i have 3 sinus infections in 3 different places in my sinuses. I have a deviated septum and one of my airways is completely blocked off which is also probably why i'm having trouble breathing.
My doctor just diagnosed me with Chronic ethomoidal sinusitis, chronic spephnoid sinusitis and chronic frontal sinusitis a few days ago.I've had trouble breathing for a while but i've just noticed it starting to get worse. I feel like i can't get a deep breathe in and when i do i immediately feel like i need to have another one. It feels like my lungs aren't expanding all the way or something. I also get this feeling of having to yawn to take a breath. It really scares me and i ended up going to the ER the other night because i was having so much trouble breathing, they took a chest x-ray(came back normal) and gave me medicine for Anxiety and did blood work to make sure i don't have any blood clots.
I hate this feeling of not being able to breathe. It seems to get worse after i eat something. I can't exercise or i feel like i can't breathe at all. I don't know what to do. I tried breathing in through my mouth then out through my nose and NO air whatsoever came out of the right side of my nose and barely any air came through the left side. Could that be why i'm having so much trouble breathing or could it be the LPR? I'm not sure....
I'm having Septoplasty & Endoscopic Sinus surgery on Wednesday for the blocked airway, and the sinus infections. Do you think that surgery will help me with my breathing problem? I'm 18 years old.. My gastroenterologist put me on 40MG of Protonix twice a day for 6 weeks then lowered it down to one 40MG a day. My ENT put me on 2 Zantac 150MG Twice a day and on Atrovent(nasal spray)
If anyone else has trouble breathing and have found a way to help it PLEASE let me know what you've done.. Also if anyone has problems with constantly clearing their throat or constantly coughing because you feel like something is stuck in your throat and has found someway to help that as well, please let me know. It will be GREATLY appreciated!!
Thanks for taking the time to read this!!
