I can tell you this, though. I was told by my surgeon that the esophagus is a dumb organ that interprets all pain as reflux/burning. So if it's a reflux burning you're describing, yes, it's normal. It's part of the healing experience. Remember that your stomach has been through a lot...it's been stretched and pulled and wrapped an stitched. I'll be complaining for quite some time. Listen to what it has to say, and follow your body's lead.
