Does anyone else suffer from poor motility?

Just want to know if anyone else has a poor working esophagus? Has anyone been diagnosed with poor motility then had another manometry that showed good motility?
I just googled esphogeal transplant and I can forget that. The first one ever done was Feb 2012. So transplant is not an option.

I was diagnosed with hypotensive LES and hypomotile esophagus (dysmotility).

Fret not! Just because you were diagnosed with this once, it was just that moment in time. Many, many people with reflux have motility issues, as do many people who don't have reflux. These problems are found in the general population too...

My Dr. is the head of an esophageal diseases center and this is coming from his mouth. He also says a lot of promosing drugs are in the works to improve motility.

Motility is a chicken and egg issue with reflux...sometimes it comes first, sometimes its a results, and sometimes we have no idea.

Just because you don't get responses from others saying they do not have motility issues does not mean that they don't have them. And some people on the street have them but never find out because they don't have symptoms of reflux or other issues.

Since my esophagus tear I now have a motility issue. I wasn't really aware of it though and it isn't bad enough to stop me from having my wrap. I do have esophageal spasms once in a while.

What do you mean by this? I thought that the manometry exam is the gold standard in measuring motility? Are you sugesting if I had another exam that the results would be the same?

Thanks for the Link. I just called he doesn't take my insurance. A consultation with no insurance costs $550.

Hi Tom,

I understand about the insurance - I really do. However, your case is complex, IMO.

If it were me, I would ask for a discount and let them bill the insurance carrier directly.

Wouldn't the Linx be the same situation? Insurance wouldn't cover that either, I think.
