Gastric Electrical Stimulation- Gastric pacemaker

I saw my surgeon today for gastroparesis & LPR (silent reflux). He doesn't want to operate because most surgeries do nothing for the gastroparesis, in fact it can make worse. Instead he said I'm a candidate for Gastric Electrical Stimulation. It's a pacemaker that stimulates the squeezing action that lets the stomach empty. He thinks my LPR comes from the fact that food sits in my stomach & builds acid. Has anyone had one before? Please share.

Yes, last time I met with my Dr he did talk about the GES device. I'm not sure what to think of it at this point, but If I'm going to do anything surgical for my GP this would most likely be my first step as well. I would like to think that it would help more than it would hurt and any improvement in emptying times could potentially relieve some LPR symptoms.

I did however meet with my general doctor who mentioned that he had one other patient who had the GES device implanted. He said that the patient saw moderate improvements in bloating, nausea and vomiting. It seems like it wont be a cure, but could be an improvement.

On a different note I finally got a hold of remeron and will be trying that out for my gastroparesis symptoms.

Also, I've tried triphala and it seems to have more of a laxative effect. I'll have bowel movements within an hour of taking it. Not completely sure if it's helping with my gastroparesis, but it's moving things along inside of me.
