Hi,
I am looking to compare experiences with other folks that underwent a Nissen Fundo or partial Nissen Fundo that have gone to St. Joe's so I can hear about their experiences. I am having my surgery in 23 days (not that I am counting) with Dr. Ross Bremner and would like to hear of your experience.
I have a GPEH and with more than 85% of my stomach in my chest I know it has to be done. It just keeps getting progressively worse. Some foods stick because they cannot get through my esophagus because it is like a crazy S, and I have started avoiding eating at night because it just doesn't go down. If I did not know better I would have thought that I have some cardiac related issues because it hurts mid sternum but I just saw the cardiologist yesterday (after a complete work up) and got the green light for surgery.
My job is very demanding, mentally-not physically, and I am taking 3 weeks off and would like to know if that was sufficient for most of you? I am a 54 year old female in otherwise pretty good shape. Most people would describe me as a strong Type A personality....meaning I really do not like giving up control but I am motivated and disciplined. Already set up an appointment with a nutritionist in two weeks so I can make sure that I get enough nutrients after surgery since I do not have that much I can afford to lose and would like to get back on my feet as soon as possible without pushing it.
Any thoughts and best thing you did to prepare would be most welcome.
Thanks for your help. This is the best forum out there.
