I would say, cut down the amount of drinking. Don't stop drinking for now--enjoy. Just drink a little less. Also, figure out which types of alcoholic beverages and mixers could trigger the GERD like erica said.
I can tell you that a few years ago I drank a lot more (3 glasses of wine per night), on consecutive nights. My body would "fight back" and I'd experience GERD-like symptoms, and really pay for it a few days later. I cut down and things did get a little better.
So try reducing the amount or cutting certain types of beverages out, and see how you feel.
If you still feel bad, talk to your doctor. Maybe some acid-reducing meds might help you. There's over-the-counter stuff to try too. Again--discuss with doctor for your best option.
