No posts here in quite a while. I'm new, all. Trying to learn about LPR. Lots of issues: asthma, sinusitis, ear aches, vocal cord dysfunction.... Just had the manometry and 24 hr. pH, and waiting for the results.
PPIs seem to be a mystery. I was on them for quite a while after a GSD (esophageal dilation), but stopped a bit ago, because I don't have symptoms of GERD. Someplaces I read you don't use them for LPR, while other places I read they are the only remedy.
I'm thinking I'd like to use the Gaviscon only, vs. go back on drugs if possible. So, trying to learn.
I understand the UK version has more alginate. That's the "Advance" version. But I also see "Double Action", too, which seems to have more of the antacid in it? Not sure if that's the 500 mg. of alginate...
For flavors, I'd think the peppermint wouldn't be good, as they say avoid mints. But it's the only flavor/type available if you want tablets?
Another question would be when to use. All the time? After every meal? And when? Right after? I'm wondering if, using this, even the new asthma, hoarseness and breathlessness might go away...
Many thanks!
