Amanda - I feel for you. This condition isn't fun, is it?! I am trying to lose weight THINKING that being overweight is the problem. If you have lost 30 pounds and still have problems, then I am wondering if weight loss will help me.
I have had acid reflux for at least 6-8 years. Nothing seems to help and I think it is getting worse. I just finished 2 weeks of Protonix and I couldn't tell that it helped one bit. I've taken Pepto Bismol, Tums, Pepcid AC, Maalox, Rolaids. You name it, and I've taken it.
I've had two endoscopies and the doctor says my stomach is inflamed and that I have "gastritis". I never have food come up and I never belch a sour stomach. However, I have a very acid feeling in the back of my throat and bad breath. Sometimes my esophagus feels raw.
I am afraid of the long term implications of this disease. Am sure most sufferers are very concerned as I am.
I just keep trying to live with it. I have never smoked or drank alcohol. I have given up Coke and Pepsi, but I can't really tell much difference.
I think this is all in the genes and DNA. One thing for sure, I know it isn't in my head.
