Hi I get carafate on prescription here in uk no probs they are called Antepsin with sucralfate in brackets. I was given mine by a Consultant at the hospital who wrote to my GP. Hope this helps Rita

Rita, thank you so much for letting me know about that. I really appreciate it! I will definitely ask my GP if she will prescribe it, as the PPIs are barely helping.

Rita, just to let you know that I had no problem getting a prescription from my GP for Antepsin (Carafate).

The only instructions in the leaflet as to when to take them are:
Two tablets after waking up in the morning and two tablets at bedtime or
One tablet four times a day. Doses should be taken before meals and at bedtime.

Nothing about how to space them out which is strange. However I have seen Denise, StephanieJeans and your advise about this and shall try to follow that. It certainly will be challenging .. I'll have to try and work out a timetable.

Hello noelle good news about the antepsin, I'm in bed now about to have my dose. Your leaflet says the same as mine so for 2 years I have been taking them 1 hour before meals. Morning and before lunch was a doddle. My trouble started as. I work on a till at the local Spar afternoons so I managed between customers to take one approximately an hour before I was going to eat my tea. I am lucky as I dont usually eat between meals because that would make it very difficult to allow it to do its job properly. The other week I suddenly found I couldnt stomach them dont know why they just took my appetite away so I decided as they have cured the nausea problem I had I would take them morning and night. So here goes! Dont expect a quick reaction and I still get the rotten heartburn but its sooo good not to feel sick!(especially in a shop). Best wishes Rita
