I am curious as to which meds people think work best for their acid reflux, least side effects etc.
I have tried Prilosec 40mgs 2 x a day for 6 weeks, no change. Then I switched to Protonix 20mgs 2 x a day and I now have tinnitus which my pharmacist said all PPI's carry that risk :(
I've been off all meds for 3 weeks and still have the tinnitus which is as equally tormenting as the Gerd :(
My doctor called me in Nexium which I am frightened to take!
Thanks for the support!

Try h2 blockers like Zantac .. Before ppi, these were the norm .. Also diet is very important , don't eat fat laden , hard to digest foods eg pizza, bread, cheese, red meat cakes, biscuits , fast foods...

Just to add, I have 300 mg of Zantac at night and Prevacid 15 mg in morning. Suffer from some rashes from Zantac so just gave to grit my teeth and try not to itch. The benefit outweighs cons... No side effects from Prevacid ..

I believe everyone is different and will react differently to any medicine. i was on nexium for 3 years aand it worked great. no breakthrough reflux. then 6 months ago i started getting severe reactions to it. it took me four months of h##l to figure it out. i would try it. im told its the best reflux med on the market.
good luck with your decision!

I had my best results with Malox chewable antacids. They worked better than any PPI I tried and stopped the burn right away. Of course it wouldn't last for very long.
Take care,
Bill
