Nissen pain

I had fundoplication surgery 8 years ago. But for years have had INCREASING pain under the breast and on the right mid back. It's like I've been scalded and rarely lets up. I noticed that my stomach is bloating quite a lot and I think it's causing pressure on nerves from the inside out. I'm at my wit's end as no doctors have an answer. Tried pain meds but what a mess that was. I want to get to the source of the problem and it's not showing up on CAT scans or MRI's. Has anyone had this kind of pain from fundoplication surgery.

Welcome to the Healing Well Wrapped Club! I'm sorry to hear that you've been suffering for so long, and that your pain is increasing. Your post-Nissen experience seems pretty unique. I've participated in this forum since my surgery in February 2009, and it's the first time I've heard about anything like the pain you're experiencing.

It's normal to have pain during the recovery period, but once that's over, pain should be over. You said docs don't know what's going on. I know how frustrating that must be.

Have you traveled to a center that specializes on upper GI issues? Have you been tested for gallbladder disease? The pain you're describing sounds suspiciously like the pain experienced with gallbladder issues. There is an answer out there. Get second, third, and fourth opinions. I know it's an uphill battle, but someone out there can help you.

Hi Linda sorry you are in so much pain. I had my nissen 12years ago and for the last 3 years have had a recurring heartburn almost continuously. With this is the back pain like you said in the mid right part of my back. I had a scan which confirmed I have gallstones but the doctors dont seem to want to match the two things together. I have the manometry and ph tests to come in November to check if the wrap is intact. Wearing a bra just starts the heartburn, so for the last three years I have had to wear support vests that are not tight. I think that you must keep pressing for more tests. Best wishes Rita
