Hi everyone
I was so terrorfied of this test. Specially since I had never had one nor have I even been put to sleep for anything. I pretty much cried the entire time before the test but the staff was so wonderful to me.. I did NOT like the spray they used to numb my throat they actually did it on me 3 times and it was NOT a pleasant experience for me.. It burned like hell down my throat and up my nose...
Once they got that done ofcourse my panic then kicked into the highest gear possible, they wheeled me into the room and the only things I remember is saying I felt dizzy to which the nurse said thats the medication, and then I VAUGLEy remember someone saying something about putting something in my mouth and then boom I don't remember ANYTHING after that. Next thing I knew a nurse was calling my name to wake me up. I felt really super out of it and my throat is still really soar but I surivived and the proceedure itself was I guess nothing and very fast according to my husband. I don't know, I don't remember anything..
My results weren't as bad as I thought..Dr said I have GERD, a Hiatal hernia that isn't as bad as my MD thought, and I have a pretty bad case of gastritis. The small intestin, my stomach an esophagus are inflammed but thank GOD no barretts and no cancer of the stomach or anything.. He did take 2 biopsis not sure what for I can't remember..As for the swallowing problem I'm having hes put me on Carafate and Prevacid soluable and he's hoping that will help clear it up. He said if not the hernia may need to be repaired and I may need another swallowing test.. .So that was my experience. I have to say my anxiety made it MUCH worse than it really was...and the only things I didn't like were the numbing spray and now I have a sore throat from hell but I made it :)
