I'm a 42 male and eight months post nissen. I had had a couple of episodes of stomach discomfort and then kept waking up in the mornings with a slight nausea. Which resolved after breakfast. I also suffered from halitosis. I was finally diagnosed with a hiatus hernia, a lax lower esophageal sphincter and Barrett's.
I was started on lanzaprazole and everything was hunky dory, though the halitosis remained.
Because of the Barrett's nissen fundoplication was advised, which was performed beginning of May 2013.
Three months later I had developed two big stomach ulcers. Never had them before. Occasionally I wake up in the night with terrible heartburn. Never had that before.
The worst: if I crouch or bend down I get pain in my stomach area. It feels like side stitch, only it is not in my side, but in my middle upper abdomen. I then have to either stand up or lie flat and it will stop after 10-15 minutes.
This is extremely debilitating as it prevents me from exercise and playing on the floor with my little kids.
The surgeon thought I was anxious. Miffed is a better word.
I am thinking about having it reversed.
Has anyone had a similar experience?
