Hi,
I'm a newbie. I've been reading about people having difficulty with nutcracker esophagus. Mine started in Nov 2012. It started out with a strange hair like feeling in my throat (dr. said globus). Then by March 2013 I thought I had GERD. Had endoscopy and he did dilate my esophagus, but everything else looked good. I had test where they monitor your pain thru the day, everything fine. Manometry showed that I had nutcracker spasms happening. I also saw ENT guy and he said my larynx muscles were tight. Well I started to have a lot more dysphagia and burning throat and back of tongue, severe heart attack pains. When in for another Endoscopy in Nov 2013. He dilated me again, 2 cm bigger. He found some irritation and gastritis. Barium swallow shows that everything is fine. I am taking 80 mg Nexium. It is not working and I have continuous chest pain and burning of tongue and throat. I have given up caffeine (no decaf coffee either). My biggest offender would be wine at night. Also as others have stated, I don't want to do the nitrates or the calcium blockers. My BP is not high and I don't want to worry about passing out, severe headaches, or full blown GERD because of the relaxation of the smooth muscle. Is this a condition that will not heal? I believe mine was triggered by stress. Thanks.
