Rita,
I have poor motility and was offered a dilation which I refused. I sincerely believe motility will not be helped by dilation or surgery. I suggest the cause of the motility issue has to be discovered.
I know my motility issue is from having had polio as a child. It's always been slow. It's a muscle problem. Dilation will only open my nice wrap, which is working, and loosen my useless LES (lower esophageal sphincter). Then I'll have reflux again from incompletely closing valve.
I suggest more testing, barium swallow maybe, to see what exactly is happening to food when you swallow. If it goes down the throat fine and sits at the top of the wrap, then maybe dilation is actually needed. It there is a muscle problem (actually a nerve problem) like I have, just slow going down but going through the wrap when it finally gets there, then dilation won't help.
