Anyone have great advice on this? If you have been suffering significantly daily, for years, and can foresee many years more?

My best advice would be to drink alkaline water. I believe it saved my esophagus as its the only water i drink. I have been refluxing for 20 years and only been diagnosed,medicated,a nd recently fundoplicated in the past 2 years. My endoscope results revealed a loose sphincter and a hiatal hernia.But my esophagus was not severely inflamed.

Do you make alkalized water yourself or buy it? I just googled it and will start drinking it habitually.

I am big on turmeric (especially simmering turmeric for 10 minutes to make a tea, but letting it cool down first), green tea, strawberries and olive oil. Those are all esophageal protectant and/or anti-inflammatory.

I'm right there with you big guy!

I still fight the good fight daily and won't give up, however I've kind of went into "auto pilot" mode. I've come to terms with my fate and I just try to live in the moment and not let it consume me.

Not trying to be "gloom and doom" but I try not to dwell on it anymore and have put it in God's hands. I hope to be around for several more years but if things don't work out, I'll put in a good word for you with the big guy! smilewinkgrin

I think that this is the fear of a lot of Gerders,its totally normal i feel it as well but sadly, is not easy to describe it to non-gerders..Just try to control it with the best way possible (lifestyle changes and meds) and make sure you monitor it every couple of years. And remember to stay positive..and i know its hard :)
