Maybe you can help me. I had an endoscopy in 2008 and the surgeon wanted to operate to tighten a hiatus hernia. My doctor advised against it as my PPIs were working well. I am on Lansoprazole 30mgs. For the last few months I have been in constant pain with GERD like symptoms. I have been referred back to the hospital and the surgeon is putting me back through a battery of tests. However he informs me that any operation with my gastric history (problematic gall bladder removal) is likely to be major and open surgery and that I need to make a life style change to avoid surgery. I have bile reflux and he has told me not to drink alcohol, coffee, juices or eat citrus fruits, chocolate, cakes, biscuits, crisps, curry Chinese, spices, red meats, processed meats, pickles etc. It seems that I am restricted to tea, venison, poultry, fish some vegetables, some fruits, low fat dairy and starches e.g. bread, potatoes and pasta. I am on a very low fact and low acid bland diet. Is there anyone else on a similarly restricted diet? Did it help? Do you have any recipes or food ideas? Is there anything that you would recommend? Thank you for your help.
