Welcome to the forum! Glad you've come out of the shadows, and are starting to participate. I'm sure others will benefit greatly from your experience and comments!

Each surgeon is different and have different eating protocols. My surgeon had me on liquids in the hospital, and sent me home on soft foods. After I saw him on Day 6, he set me free to eat "anything that could be chewed to a liquid." It was trial and error, but not all that difficult. I just never swallowed anything that didn't chew to oblivion.
I had to use my good judgement to decide what would chew to a liquid, an never swallowed anything that didn't. I kept a handy paper napkin available for depositing things that don't chew properly.
I'm not advocating that you do this, but I can say it worked for me. My mouth and teeth were my blender. I chew, chew, chewed my food.
