Hey fellow GERDers.
I'm a 21 year old male from Sweden who has been combating GERD for as long as i can remember. about
4 years ago I was put on omeprazole 20-80 mg a day. The last few months I started developing som really wierd symptoms. I started getting allergies to food I've been eating all my life (Diary, wheat, salmon, tomato osv.) I got intolerant to something new every other week. I also had a lot of stomach pains and was feeling generally miserable. A few weeks ago I decided to take action against what i suspected to be the cause, and get of the omeprazole cold turkey. It went surprisingly well even though I've been diagnosed with a pretty large hiatal hernia and was terrified of rebound effects. Now I'm managing with Galviscon and DGL.
Now to the problem: The only time I get GERD symptoms (hearthburn) now is when i burp, and the burping is kind of a problem. I don't know if I'm imagening, but since I've got of the omeprazole it seems like the food i eat stays in my stomach WAY longer. A couple of days ago I had to throw up food I ate over 10 hours before, because I still felt so full, and the food caused me to burp and get hearthburn. Some of the food that came up was still whole bits (Sorry if I'm painting a to strong picture here)
I just think that I'ts wierd that it seems like the food is being less digested and stays longer in the stomach when I have more acid down there. A couple of days ago I also started taking digestive enzymes (Life extension super enhanced digestive enzymes) And HCL (Now foods) and that seems to have helped me a bit, but I'm still feeling full hours after eating just small meals. I should also metion that I'm on a strict meat and vegeteble diet (I'm intolerant to almost everything else). I alse chew my food extremely well.
My question i basicly: Do you guys have any ideas how I can get my stomach to empty faster, and hopefully cure the hearthburn.
