Laparascopic Nissen Fundoplication

Hello all

My names Mark and i'm from the UK, I've stumbled across this forum searching for answers and hopefully you can help me seek out them.

I had a FULL wrap done in 2010 and all went well

I had it done because i had heartburn 24/7 and i vomited every morning when i got out of bed, I even had to sleep more or less sat up.

My surgeon told me i would no longer get heartburn, vomiting etc...

The only thing i didn't get after my op was dietry help from a dietician so i was NEVER told what to or what not to eat after my operation

I've vomited around 6 times now with SOLID food coming up, this was a concern to me but a new surgeon who replaced mine due to him leaving told me that this is normal after a few tests under x-ray ( barium swallow test )

But this past several months i've had a strange cramp like feeling at the bottom of my ribs were the surgery was and recently a horrible pain just below the left side of my ribs when i sit back at my computer any longer than 1 hour

I told my GP about this cramp like feeling when it started happening and she decided putting me back onto omeprazole was the best course of action ( omeprazole never worked for me before my operation so i was put onto the strongest dose of Nexium and was taking 3 a day )

I rang my surgeons receptionist who said back then to get them to re-refer me but it seems an impossible task to do.

So what i'm trying to find out if the symptoms i'm facing now could be the surgery coming undone?

Any help and info would be great so i can hopefully go back to my GP with abit more information.

Think it's impossible to tell if it's come undone without you having further tests. Aside from the vomiting, have your symptoms returned? I was under the impression that you wouldn't be able to vomit with fundo?? Think you possibly need more tests, manometry/endoscopy if you are having the old symptoms. Perhaps you should push the gp to refer you. I know in my instance they are just happy to keep writing out the prescriptions.

I'm presuming the reading on your manometry was the les pressure?

I'm really sorry I can't be of more help....I really think you need to sit down with your gp and go through everything with them. If you truly feel its related to your surgery/reflux then you should be offered an appointment. Easier said than done, I know as I am in the same boat and have yet to tackle the subject with my GP.

Really hope you get some answers soon.
