LPR, Linx, ...help!! :)

Hi everyone

I am a 25 year old female. I got diagnosed with LPR about 4 years ago, when I noticed I was unable to sing or speak without straining. Since then I have been living the nightmare that is LPR. It has impacted my life in every way, social life, food, unable to sing any more which was often the only thing that got me through life. It was also my life long dream to be a teacher but had to swiftly give that idea up and just became depressed really- doing office work etc so I wouldn't strain my voice.

I have tried absolutely everything. I've tried the Koufman diet, and it works briefly, but the LPR always comes back. Voice therapy I have tried. I have raised my bed. I have eliminated all bad foods, living mainly on brown rice, vegetables and fish and the odd omelette. I am on gaviscon advance. I tried PPIs but they gave me all sorts of awful side effects, so I quit. I have lost sooo much weight trying to deal with this stupid thing. It's really driving me nuts because it has stolen so many things from me despite my best efforts!!! I was already underweight to begin with but now I am so skinny because I keep losing weight with all the foods I've had to eliminate. The worst thing is my voice only gets marginally better with this.

I am consdering the LINX surgery now as I cannot take it any longer!!! The only problem is I also have hypermobility syndrome which means I have loose ligaments. I am worried this will have an effect on the outcome of the surgery. I am also concerned about maintaining my physiotherapy regime (basically- like yoga and Pilates combined) in the post-operative period, as this is integral to my general joint health.

I would be so grateful for any LPR LINX related stories. I am desperate for an answer and feel almost suicidal about this because it has just turned me from someone who loved life and had ambitions, to someone who is neurotic about foods, cannot speak for longer than 5-10 mintues without vocal strain, and constantly have acid shooting up into my nose!!!

only I've had orthognathic surgery and a revision of it a 2nd time with
total joint replacement tmjs
I've been in braces for almost 5 years and constant issues rt my facial growth and surgeries
i was a mouth breather and had developed adenoid type face..and malocclusion
did not have surgery until in 40s.


had tonsils out and sinus procedure..
still have persistent sleep apnea
which i feel is causing much of my lpr

i am getting ready to try the gaviscon advance (have ordered it)
and trying alkaline water and the diet bc i too don't do well with antacids and don't think they ae good for you.

i also have to stretch and do yoga walk..et.
i also have weird neck and shoulder issues and
its very hard to sleep on a wedge or with bed elevated..and sleeping on side my apnea and issues are worse.

i definitely would consider linx..but I'm too worried to try it just yet until we can resolve some of the sleep apnea (even though they are related) they cause each other..

i still feel something is wrong with my palate from the maxillary surgery..
that is causing my sinus and breathing issues.

i don't know why people have lpr but i feel mine is rt the craniofacial issues and the sugeries.
i prob had the situation all along and didn't realize and has become full blown
since the surgery.

i cannot strain my throat at all..and i have a person in my life who is much better but has some issues and if i get upset and have to strain my voice at him..(even though i am normally calm peaceful person) it def makes things so bad i have swelling so bad have to take benadryl and sleep upright..
its been very difficult..( i have trouble with my voice all along like if sing a hymn in church voice does weird things)..now i can't project very well but i think its more rt the tmj joint replacement.
i don't dare yell very loud if calling my dog...on a walk..et

i don't work currently as this has taken over my life..
and cannot get the sleep apnea or lpr under control.

i too am already very thin..and yes i am not eating as well and my situation seems only to be getting worse.
i think i might have some cervical spine issues..who knows

I've always stayed active and exercise..but have always had neck, head shoulder issues.
and tigtness in stomach..and have to stretch to stay loose.

i think there is more to lpr than they are realizing and I'm not sure why some of us have it..
but i know mine was definitely brought out by my craniofacial surgeries.. and continued issues with this. as well as my posture and forward head..et. being in constant braces...chewing issues et. muscle tension..(there are lots of things).

even if i were to work as am nurse( need to get license renewed) I'm not sure i would be able to do bc of the receptive charting and straining bc of shoulder and neck.

hard to talk and communicate..its very difficult to know what to do.
and people like us would not qualify for disability

even cooking or doing dishes or being on a computer or texting can cause me tightness and muscle tension..and i think some of it is all related..to the lpr and sleep apnea...in that i think the muscle tension, posture issues and tightness might be contributing to the sleep apnea and lpr

if i sleep on just the right mattress like if out of town..at hotel i do okay sometimes.
as well as have to have central air and conditions right in the home..or get sinus issues.../immune issues.

lately i have problems almost anywhere..
i used to think was yeast related..and avoided sugar..took antibiotics and sometimes diflucan, but now I'm thinking throat and sinus issues rt lpr and pesin coming up into tissues, attaching and causing inflammation.
