Here is my problem: I’ve had a phlegmy throat since developing GI problems in June and am constantly (it seems) clearing my throat and spitting out phlegm. I’m on my second Gastro doctor now and (after endoscopy) been diagnosed with mild gastritis and a patulous GE junction, but no active esophagitis.
My ENT did a CAT scan and said my sinuses are inflamed and prescribed a two week course of antibiotics. Neither of the Gastro doctors thought the phlegmy throat was due to my GI problems. Indeed, since my wife said I was a little anxious for having to deal with this for five months, the second Gastro doctor latched on to the idea that I must be crazy (the last refuge of the theoretically challenged physician I suppose). Of course, that may be true (since, it is indeed metaphorically driving me crazy); but – in the meantime - does anyone have any ideas on how to deal with the phlegmy throat, as I presume I am on my own medically? Besides myself, my ENT (a really good doctor) is the only one who seems to take it seriously.
