acid rebound

Hi Jollyrancher, Acid rebound can last quite some time. The longer you were on the Nexium, the longer the acid rebound. Is the Zantac helping? How much are you taking? My acid reflux/rebound was so bad I was prescribed 300 mg Zantac twice a day. I just started weaning off the Zantac again in November. I am now on less than 300 mg for the day. It just takes time.

We were on P and found that titration down very very slowly over six or so months was the only thing that worked. We took a capsule and actually counted the beads and dropped from full to 3/4 to halves to thirds to quarters to eights -- each drop down was about a month in between. Even dropped to every other day in the end. Purchased empty gel capsules from health food store and had an area set aside just to split pills. The pharmacy didn't sell capsules-- said they can't encourage pill splitting. We were taking PPi twice a day and that's how it was handled. Hope this gives you an idea that might be helpful. I saw you mentioned in another post about Nexium. Since the Zantac is not working well, can you take another PPI and wean off of it first? I did something similar to Pat Tall, opening the pills and reducing the dose over time. That really is the best way to come off the PPI.
